Diagnosis and Management of Sciatic Endometriosis at the Greater sciatic Foramen: a Case Report

Abstract Sciatic endometriosis is a rare condition in which endometrial tissue invades or compresses the lumbosacral plexus and/or sciatic nerve and causes pain, often cyclical. Its diagnosis depends on recognition of signs symptoms atypical to common degenerative lumbar disorders its treatment requires timely coordinated care. A 26-year-old woman presented chiropractor at hospital-based outpatient clinic with 6-month exacerbation radiating pain paresthesia from right gluteal region into leg foot. She was previously treated for over 3 months suspected radiculopathy physical therapy. Multisegmental neurologic deficits inconsistent her prior imaging prompted further investigation. Pelvis hip MRI identified 7×5 cm mass extending through greater foramen compressed infiltrated plexus, nerve, superior confirmed via biopsy be endometriosis.
